Hot Mud MoxibustionTreatment

What is this service? Only in Zen Therapy!

Mud moxibustion is a therapeutic method that involves applying heat and stimulation to specific parts of the body using mud medicine to treat and prevent diseases. It combines traditional wax moxibustion with a mixture of over ten Chinese herbal powders including mineral mud, saffron, snow lotus flower, Chinese angelica, Szechuan lovage rhizome, vine stem, eucommia bark, mistletoe, achyranthes, and achyranthes. Its flexibility allows it to be applied to any part of the body, delivering fast and effective results. Mud moxibustion has multiple benefits such as promoting blood circulation, reducing inflammation, and dispelling wind and dampness, effectively clearing the body’s meridians and expelling pathogenic factors to achieve rapid healing of stubborn ailments.

By stimulating the acupuncture points, it activates the body’s meridians, mobilizes the meridians, and thus promotes the smooth flow of qi and blood in the body. It regulates the balance of yin and yang and has a holistic effect. Moxibustion is suitable for those who often feel cold all over their body or in certain parts, such as cold hands and feet, or a cold sensation in the shoulders and back. By conducting heat, it delivers the energy and medicinal effects directly to the cold areas of the body.

FAQ

The Most Common Questions

The pain experienced during a massage, especially for the first time, typically signifies the following:

  1. Muscle Tension and Release: Pain may indicate that the therapist is targeting areas of muscle tension or overuse. The massage helps to relax these muscles, alleviating the discomfort caused by tension.

  2. Improved Blood Circulation: Massage, by applying pressure, enhances blood flow, allowing muscles to receive more oxygen and nutrients. The pain can be a direct experience of increased circulation aiding in the repair of damaged tissues and the release of tension.

  3. Connective Tissue Adjustment: If there are adhesions or tension in the connective tissue (such as fascia), massage may cause some discomfort or pain. This is because the treatment attempts to restore the tissue to its natural state and flexibility.

  4. Toxin Release: Massage can facilitate the elimination of toxins from the body. During this process, some individuals may experience mild discomfort or pain, which is part of the body’s natural detoxification process.

  5. Emotional Release: For some, the tension and pain stored in the body are not just physical but can also be related to emotional states. Massage can sometimes trigger the release of emotions, accompanied by pain or other bodily sensations.

This pain is usually a normal part of the body’s healing process, indicating that the body is responding to the treatment.

  1. Bonus Massage: Receive a complimentary massage after every 10 sessions. Sessions booked by friends you’ve referred also count towards your bonus massage tally.
  2. Birthday Specials: Enjoy a birthday gift and extra discounts on services used on your birthday.
  3. Pair Discount: Book a massage for two with the membership card and receive a 5% discount.
  4. Monthly Invitations: Invite up to 3 people for a massage each month at a 10% discount.

Thai massage and Chinese meridian massage each have their unique styles, characterized by different historical backgrounds, therapeutic principles, techniques, and goals. Thai massage focuses on promoting energy balance and enhancing body flexibility, employing deep stretching and compression techniques to relax muscles and extend their range of motion. Conversely, Chinese meridian massage concentrates on regulating the flow of qi (energy) and blood to treat illnesses and alleviate discomfort. It uses a variety of methods such as pushing, grabbing, pressing, kneading, plucking, and shifting, following the body’s meridian lines and stimulating specific acupoints to relieve pain, ease muscle tension, and achieve a balance of yin and yang. Additionally, experienced therapists can identify and address issues with the neck or lumbar spine during the massage, using precise manipulative techniques for slight adjustments to alleviate pain effectively. Choosing the right massage type should be based on an individual’s specific health conditions and goals, ensuring the selection is well-suited to their needs.

  1. Acute Wounds or Infections: Individuals with open wounds, infections, or severe inflammation in the foot area should avoid foot therapy to prevent worsening the wound or spreading the infection.

  2. Risk of Thrombosis: People with a history of thrombosis or at risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) should avoid foot therapy as it could cause a thrombus to move, leading to serious health issues.

  3. Acute Cardiac Conditions: Those with severe heart conditions or who have recently undergone heart surgery should avoid foot therapy until evaluated by a doctor.

  4. Pregnancy: Women in the early stages of pregnancy (especially the first three months) should avoid foot therapy as stimulation of certain points on the feet could affect the pregnancy. While foot therapy might be safe in later stages of pregnancy, it should be performed under the guidance of a professional.

  5. Diabetes: Diabetic individuals may have reduced sensation in their feet, making foot therapy risky due to potential unnoticed injury. If undergoing foot therapy, ensure the therapist is aware of your condition and takes appropriate precautions.

  6. Skin Diseases: Individuals with severe skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis may find that foot therapy exacerbates their skin issues.

  7. Cancer: Cancer patients should consult a doctor before undergoing foot therapy, especially if the cancer may have spread to the bones.
